Megan Parks is a displaced southerner still learning how to appreciate New England winters. She brings six years of experience in the media industry, ranging from national magazines and book publishing to managing Web sites and campaign material production for environmental nonprofits.

Born and raised in Birmingham, AL, the travel bug took a hold of Megan after graduating from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, in 2004.

Her personal record so far is living in four states within a year, but Megan's highlight was living and working in New Zealand for seven months. Fortunately, a career in writing compliments her passion for the outdoors, the lure of the unknown and an unquenchable wanderlust.

Megan has been involved in the media industry for the past six years in various capacities (from interning at national magazines to working as an associate editor at a book publishing company). Her work has been published in Climbing magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Budget Travel and The Unofficial Guide guidebook series and local papers.

However, she recently took a hiatus from society to thru hike the Appalachian Trail. Megan completed the trail this past October and eagerly returned to Massachusetts after her six-month walk in the woods.

She is currently working as a freelance writer and enjoying all the luxuries associated with her return to society (electricity, a bed, pillows and indoor plumbing).
