ReplyGinny: I think many people share your frustration. Two things complicate the flow of information here: First, it's a personnel issue, which affords those involved some confidentiality. Second, there are legal proceedings ongoing--the wrongful termination complaint from Adam Bakr--that further restrict what people can say publicly. Of course, we will continue to report and follow the story and do our best to keep readers informed.

ReplyTrish: Do you drive an EV? I'm wondering how much charge you would get if you plugged your car in for an hour into a 240v charging station like this. Any ideas? I do know from working in places such as coffee sops and libraries, and my monthly bills at home, that electricity is a precious commodity even if you don't plug in your car.

ReplyTrish: Thanks fo the heads up on the typo. And I didn't know there were different level chargers until I saw your comment. Here's what I do know: The charging station at the 99 has two ports and both are rated for 240 volts. Which I believe makes them level 2 chargers.

ReplyMary-Ann, the topic of accreditation did come up during the hearing. The context was the library, where the decision to fill a slot with a less experienced and non-certified librarian prompted some councilors to question whether the move would affect future accreditation. School officials assured the council it would not.

ReplyHeather: As the story notes, efforts were made to contact the accused. If you have any leads to share, such as the name of his attorney, I'd be happy to pursue them to help round out the story.

ReplyYou don't have to own Apple products to have been impacted by Steve Jobs. As much as any other person, he's the one who put desktops on every desk (remember desktops!?) and computers in all of our hands, by knowing we would want them before we even knew we did. He is a true visionary. If that wasn't enough, he also gave us Pixar, which has made some of my--I mean my kids' - favorite movies of all time.

ReplyScott,
Rep. Carolyn Dykema has stated she would vote against the current casino legislation. Last year she voted no and also proposed an amendment that would give neighboring communities a say in casino siting.
Sen. Spilka did abstain from voting last year, but this year she supported the bill being voted out of the Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies--a committee she co-chairs--with an amendment that includes set-aside funds to help mitigate impacts on communities near any new casinos. She will get to vote again when the full Senate takes up the bill. -
On the article How Have You Coped Without Power?

ReplyI live in Hopkinton and went without electricity almost all week--108 hours, to be precise, not that I was counting.
To cope, I caught up on sleep, walked my dog more than ever, got to know neighbors better--thank you Mark and Danielle for the generator-powered electricity to run my coffee maker!-- and became a regular at Pejamajo Cafe in downtown Holliston, which has free WifFi, a few power outlets (in great demand this week, of course), great iced coffee, and very friendly staff.
The biggest upside of all may have been that without access to the Weather Channel, I had no idea--until this morning--that there's another hurricane brewing way out in the Atlantic.
