The victim in the October house explosion has died.
State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan and Marlborough Fire Chief James Fortin announced Wednesday that the victim of the October 28, 2012 explosion at 15 Grant Circle in Marlborough has died. "One of the key things that will happen now is we will be waiting for a report from the medical examiner'ss office. That will be a part of wrapping up the investigation," said Jennifer Mieth, Public Information Officer for the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The explosion is being investigated by the Marlborough Fire and Police Departments and State Police assigned to the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The cause of a house explosion is still under investigation by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
The investigation into the house explosion that ripped apart a home and shook a neighborhood continues as officials seek to speak to the victim. "We haven’t been able to speak to him. Fire officials have confirmed the source of a weekend house explosion.
Fire officials confirmed Monday that gas was the source of an early morning house explosion Sunday. "It has been confirmed to be a gas explosion and the cause is not determined yet," said Fire Chief James Fortin. The exact cause of the explosion that left one person injured is still being investigated by the State Fire Marshal's Office, he said. Details on the condition of the victim were not available. 911 calls made a little after 1 a.m. alerted the Marlborough Fire Department to the explosion.
At 1:04 a.m. this morning, multiple 911 calls were received alerting the Marlborough Fire Department to a house explosion at 15 Grant Ct. According to a press release from Deputy Fire Chief Ron Ayotte, upon arrival they found that a section of the house was on fire and that the walls of the house had been blown out and collapsed. One person was home at the time of the explosion, and he was already out of the house when the first units arrived. He was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for injuries sustained from the explosion. Ayotte said that there is no information as to the extent of his injuries or condition. All I can say is this....whatever he may have been doing which caused this fatal explosion had put allot of other innocent people in harms way. This neighborhood has allot of families living in this radius, not mention also an Elementary school as well. It will be unnerving if it does turn out this incident was not an accident.
