For nearly a week, Patch readers have been uploading photos. We've crowned our winner.
In our photo contest this week, readers from all over the region shared with us photos that illustrate Thanksgiving. But we could only choose one. All photos uploaded before 6 p.m. yesterday were under consideration to be crowned the winner in Patch's Picture of the Week Contest. After deliberating, we had to go with Nicole McKay's photo, as shown above. Congratulations, Nicole, and thank you to all those who participated! Please continue to share your photos with us, either through our blogging platform or by uploading to your local Patch site's Pics and Clips gallery. Nicole, we'll be emailing you so we can make arrangements to get you your $25 gift card. Return to Patch tomorrow, when you can start uploading pictures for our next …

Thanksgiving has always been a time for me to reflect on the past year and remember the things big and small that have made my year better. This year I am looking at a new job working here. But it is not just the job that I am thankful for but you, the readers, and the many elements that make this site so unique and valuable in the community. So here are some of the things that I am thankful about when it comes to Patch. 1. We're Patchers, and not Elves. When the masterminds behind Patch.com started dreaming up names for the hyperlocal news venture, "Patch," beat out a dozen other names, one of which was "Elf." Now, I'm all about team spirit but rocking pointy ears is not at the top of my list of chosen accessories. 2. The Patch site is so…

Marlborough High School faces Hudson for the traditional Thanksgiving day game.
The annual Thanksgiving football game will see Marlborough High School attempt to rack up another Turkey Day win. Game time is 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 22, at Kelleher Field. Advance ticket sales for the Marlborough vs. Hudson Thanksgiving Day football game will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 19 and 20 at Marlborough High School. Advance sale prices are $3 for students and $7 for adults. All tickets will be $10 at the gate. The matchup places Marlborough (with a 4-6 record) against neighboring Hudson (with a 5-5 record), according to HighSchoolSports.Net. That website is predicting another win for Marlborough with a final score of 18 to 24. Last year's game came together for the Panthers in the last quarter with a final score of 7 to 6. Come back …
Volunteers gathered to hand turkeys out to Marlborough residents who are in need this Thanksgiving.
More than 550 turkeys were given to Marlborough residents at the town's Boys and Girls club on Tuesday who needed a little help putting food on the table this Thanksgiving. "Not everyone can go home and have a family meal enjoy those blessings," Paul Mina, the President and CPO of the Tri-County United Way said. Volunteers also handed out turkey breasts which Mina said can feed a family in need for several days. "Thanksgiving brings top-of-mind awareness to the problem," Mina said.

Black Friday will start during what some would consider the late Thanksgiving night rather than early Black Friday morning at Solomon Pond Mall this year. Shoppers at the mall will be able to begin their shopping as early as 12:30 a.m. The hours are a change from last year's 4 a.m. opening and will allow shoppers to pick all the perfect gifts until 10 p.m. at night, according to a release from the owners of the Mall. The mall will feature greeters to help guide shoppers, as well as "Rejuvination Stations" with comfortable couches, chairs and wireless internet. Photos for children and pets with Santa will also be available that day. Fit wrapping stations benefitting local charities will also be available at the mall. The Auburn and …

If you simple cannot wait, we have a round up of all the activity — and there was quite a bit — from last week. 2. The School Committee begins their search for a permanent superintendent tonight. They previously chose a company to conduct the search and will hear a presentation about the process tonight. 3. Thanksgiving is nearly upon us. Of possibly equal importance, the Black Friday hours of many retailers have been announced. We had information about Walmart's hours yesterday and the news about the Solomon Pond Mall for you today. 4. The Finance Subcommittee of the City Council will be discussing Quest Diagnostics …

The retail giant has already released its Black Friday sale circular online.
Shoppers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island will have to wait until after Thanksgiving to take advantage of Black Friday sales at retail giant Walmart, including the one just over the line in Hudson. While Walmart locations across the rest of the country will open at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving, Massachusetts and Rhode Island’s Blue Laws prohibit the store to open that early in those two states. Instead, Walmart will open at 1 a.m., which is also the time many other retailers, including Target, plan to open for business on Black Friday. Shoppers don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to find out about the Black Friday sales at Walmart. The company already has released its circular for the sale.
