Top Ten Marlborough Taxpayers for 2012

We have a list of the top ten taxpayers in Marlborough for the last year.

We have the list of the top ten taxpayers in the city. It comes as no surprise that these taxpayers are businesses and other corporate entities. However, what might be surprising is the 13.9 percent of the tax levy that their $11,950,877 in taxes represents. Information was provided by the Marlborough Board Of Assessor's Office.

Residential Taxes to Increase

The average single family home will see a $65 increase in their taxes as the City Council voted through a classification that favors lower levels for commercial properties.

City Councilors voted for a tax rate that puts slightly more burden on the residential rather than commercial and industrial properties. "The only way to lower taxes is to take out your pen at budget time," said Councilor Michael Ossing who explained he felt both residential and commercial taxes were a good level. "A $60 increase in a community that has all the services that Marlborough provides is a pretty good year." The vote was welcome by the business community. “I am very pleased that the split has come closer together.” said Susanne Morreale-Leeber the President of the Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce. “The business community is here for all of you.” The commercial and industrial sector will pay 47 percent of levied taxes …

Improve the schools, improve parks and recreation, clean up the dumpy areas, etc and people might actually want to move here. According to zillow.com the value of my home is at an all time low after 12 years. …   more ›

Marlborough Names Sanchez & Santiago as the Place to go for Taxes

In this week's edition of Best of Patch Readers' Choice, readers voted for their favorite tax preparer.

The accounting office of Sanchez & Santiago earned a dominant victory this week when Marlborough Patch asked readers to choose their favorite tax preparer in the Best of Patch Readers' Choice contest.  "We try to be a very personable company and keep in touch with our clients throughout the year," said Carol Sanchez.
