The development of the Route 20 corridor has been focused on by the city with a proposed overlay district.
A proposed overlay district aims to guide future development along the Route 20 corridor. “We need to build more value in our commercial properties and I think this is a great place to start," said City Councilor Joseph Delano at the council meeting Monday. The draft overlay district language was proposed by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). It would provide guidelines for development along Route 20 such as those encouraging a mix of retail with residential, establishing design criteria for new or redeveloped buildings and encouraging interconnections with bike and pedestrian paths, according to a draft of the language. There are many multi-use purposes that the council may or may not want to approve, said Delano who…

The former headquarters of the South Middlesex Opportunity is slated for destruction in anticipation of a new TD Bank location.
After weeks of passerby being warned of an impending demolition at 133 East Main St., the former Marlborough headquarters of the South Middlesex Opportunity Council is expected to come down any day, said city officials. "This may cause temporary and periodic traffic delays and road closures," said the city's Facebook page. "During this process you may wish to take alternate routes during the early part of next week." Contractors have been on the scene for weeks removing asbestos from the facility, said Mayor Arthur Vigeant's office. A former shoe factory, the building will be torn down to make way for a TD Bank location, said a 2010 Main Street Journal article. East Main St. at the corner of Church St. was shut down for several hours Monday night as the Marlborough Fire Department and police officers dealt with two broken high-tension lines and a fire beneath the street. A broken 13.8 KV (13,800 volt) line caused an electrical outage that affected approximately 5,000 Marlborough residents in the Bolton St. area. Initial eyewitness reports that said a large truck took down the lines was unsubstantiated by fire officials. "There was no truck involved," said Deputy Fire Chief Ron Ayotte. "Somehow the wire had just loosened up, and we're not sure why it came down. Several days of strong wind and other factors could contribute." National Grid, along with Comcast and NStar responded to the area …

Damon, it wouldn't matter if they contacted you or not since they NEVER conform to any of these master plans, just look at the back ground for the Senior Center or the recently approved housing complex in what was suppose to be zoned for business.
