Spring is here and the Coffee Loft is serving a signature iced drink to help you get into the season.
With the heat of spring upon us, Marlborough Patch stopped by the Coffee Loft to talk warm-weather drinks. Their drink of the month is an iced dirty raspberry chai tea latte. With a hint of raspberry over the spiced chai tea latte and a shot of espresso, it is a great way to get some refreshing caffeine on a warm day. When do you make the transition to iced coffee? Do you have a favorite drink you switch to when the warm weather hits? Let us know in the comments.

A slew of weekend activities are planned for the restaurant during its grand opening weekend.
The Bolton Street Tavern opened its doors to welcome in the community which has greeted the new restaurant with open arms. "The community has been very welcoming to us and we want to welcome the community to our place," said John Stounaras who owns and operates the restaurant located at the site of the former Piccadilly Pub at 587 Bolton Street with his wife Sharon. "It's very, very exciting." As the renovations were undergoing at the building and the soft opening of the business took place, people would stop in and wish them luck and commend them on the work they were doing, he said. National Geographic has rated Firefly's in Marlborough among the best BBQ in the country.
Firefly's in Marlborough was the only New England restaurant to land in Intelligent Travel's 10 Best BBQ Joints in America. The list features the best from around the country in what the article describes as America's food. It should come as no surprise to those who have been, but Memphis snags the top spot with Corky's. Marlborough's own Firefly's Restaurant makes the list at number nine, being noted for their sauces and sweet tea. What do you think of the barbeque at Firefly's? Do you think it should rate higher? Have you been to any of the other restaurants on the list? We want to hear about it in the comments.

Arara has opened on Mechanic Street featuring Brazilian and American food.
Running their own restaurant was a dream of the owners of Arara and when the opportunity came at the location at the corner of Lincoln and Mechanic Streets, they took it. "I always had a dream to have my own place," said Suzete Silva who has experience working as a chef in corporate cafes. She is joined by Helia Silva, an artist, who initially heard of the opportunity at the location at 67 Mechanic Street. “We are here and are going to try to do our best," said Helia. Their experience was discussed at a Board of Health meeting where their work on the interior of the building was recognized. They are up and running but looking for customer feedback on what works best on the menu. They are exploring different dishes on a menu that focuses on…

A new restaurant serving an array of dishes is set to open on Mechanic Street.
The Arara restaurant is set to open soon on Mechanic Street, according to Board of Health officials. “They have everything they really need," said Robert Landry, the administrator for the Board of Health. “It’s in good shape.” The business will sell Brazilian, Spanish and American dishes, he said of the restaurant named after a Brazilian bird similar to a parrot. One of the women who will be running the restaurant has experience in the food industry, he said, and they already have their serve safe and allergy training. The location used to house Burt's Lounge and is at the corner of Mechanic and Lincoln Street.

The former Piccadilly Pub restaurant will bring outdoor, family-style dining as it becomes a part of the community, say owners
The owner's of Bolton Street Tavern, John and Sharon Stounaras, say their new restaurant at the former Piccadilly Pub location that was recently announced will become a part of the community that includes outside dining from its location overlooking the water. "The beauty of this location is really overlooking the water... it almost reminds you of a place outside of where you live. We are trying to aim for that cozy home away from home atmosphere," said Sharon. The family-style tavern will appeal to all ages, said the couple. It will be similar in concept to the Morse Tavern in Natick, which they also own. John described the food as contemporary classics with a flair. "We will really knock it out of the park with the atmosphere, the food …

The chain plans to cut salt from some of its menu items and remove the salt shaker from its tables, including its Marlborough location.
The casual-dining chain, best-known for its spinning chicken rotisseries and its tasty but often-salty side dishes, is announcing plans today to remove salt shakers from guest tables at all 476 locations, including its Marlborough one on Route 20. In the dining room, guests can still add salt to their food, but they will now need to leave the table to find a shaker, a change aimed at encouraging diners to taste their food before reaching for the salt, reported the BusinessWire. Signs at tables — where salt shakers used to be — will explain the sodium-reducing effort and note that some shakers are still available at beverage stations, reported USA Today. Pepper shakers will remain on the tables. At the same time, the chain will unveil plans…

I have not been to any of the others on the list, but in this area Firefly's has the best BBQ, hands down. Others may rave about Red Bones or Blue Ribbon, but I think their meat is mediocre and their sauces are awful. Meanwhile, Firefly's has won national BBQ competition awards for their sauces - trust me, I was there when it happened!   more ›
