Outside Dining for Bolton Street Tavern

The former Piccadilly Pub restaurant will bring outdoor, family-style dining as it becomes a part of the community, say owners

The owner's of Bolton Street Tavern, John and Sharon Stounaras, say their new restaurant at the former Piccadilly Pub location that was recently announced will become a part of the community that includes outside dining from its location overlooking the water. "The beauty of this location is really overlooking the water... it almost reminds you of a place outside of where you live. We are trying to aim for that cozy home away from home atmosphere," said Sharon. The family-style tavern will appeal to all ages, said the couple. It will be similar in concept to the Morse Tavern in Natick, which they also own. John described the food as contemporary classics with a flair. Was there for beer and apps. Food was from frozen!,service was the worse I've ever, and that is saying quite a bit, I eat out a lot! Too bad I was looking forward to the opening of this restaurant.   more ›

Piccadilly Pub Appears to be Gone for Good

The Marlborough and other Piccadilly Pub locations are up for lease.

Almost two months after the Piccadilly Pub on Bolton Street closed its doors without notice, the company that owns the property has issued a sign that the restaurant will not reopen. "The landlords for the Piccadilly Pub restaurant chain have acquired its bank obligations and are seeking new tenants for the properties it occupied in Massachusetts," the landlords' attorney wrote in a letter to Auburn, MA officials as reported by the Worcester Business Journal. Restaurant chain owner Elephant & Castle filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June of 2011, and the business that ran the nine Piccadilly Pub locations in Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Pub Group (MPG), reportedly owes the State of Massachusetts almost $460,000 in overdue …

As a former bartender at the Marlborough Pub, It was very sad to see it go. I worked there for 16 years and made a lot of friends and family along the way. But, I too do not want to see another chain there either. I do not think a upscale resteraunt would do well with this current economy. I think someone local would do much better. Piccadilly Pub Shuts its Doors Indefinitely

Piccadilly Pub's parent company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The Marlborough location of Piccadilly Pub at 587 Bolton St. is closed. A memo is posted on the front door, dated Feb. 6, and reads in part, “Piccadilly Pub Restaurants have temporarily closed. Currently, a date has not been set for a re-opening.” Restaurant chain owner Elephant & Castle filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in June. Management thanked customers for their patronage of the restaurant in the message posted, adding that they hope to serve the public again sometime soon. Superintendent of the Marlborough public schools Anthony Pope has rescheduled the community forum he was set to host this evening due to the forecasted snow. The event has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the District Education Center. Another event, a reception to welcome the newly installed director of the Marlborough Public Library, has also been moved due to impending weather. Planned to run from 6-8 p.m. in the Bigelow Auditorium at the library, it will now be hosted Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the same time and place.
