Police found a large amount of a "leafy green substance" in the vehicle of a man they arrested for allegedly driving under the influence Sunday.
Police leveled marijuana dealing charges against a man after arresting him for driving under the influence of alcohol early Sunday morning. "Officers located a large amount of green leafy substance believed to be marijuana," said Marlborough Police Detective Scott DeCiero of the arrest made at 1:28 a.m. Police had been following the vehicle driven by a man later identified as Jay M. Parente, 33, of 9 Rogers Ave. after it made an abrupt stop, he said. The vehicle was pulled over after it almost hit the sidewalk and crossed the center line. A man was arrested for operating under the influence after he allegedly hit a parked vehicle in Marlborough.
Police arrested a man Monday night after he reportedly crashed his car and registered over the legal limit for alcohol. "Mr. Cartmell elected to take field sobriety tests. He failed all 3 tests horribly," wrote Marlborough Police Officer Michael Giaquinto in his police report. Police were called to Farm Road near the airport following an accident where a car reportedly driven by James W. Cartmell, 57, of 139 Broadmeadow Road Apt. 1A had struck a parked ice truck which pushed another parked car in front of it three car lengths forward. Worcester Roman Catholic Bishop Robert J. McManus has lost his license and will need to pay fines and volunteer following an arrest on charges of drunk driving.
Bishop Robert J. McManus will not serve any jail time on charges of drunk driving after he admitted in court on Tuesday that he refused to submit to a chemical test, according to the Telegram and Gazette. McManus will lose his license for six months, pay roughly $900 in court fines, complete 10 hours of community service and attend alcohol education programs, according to the Telegram. These punishments correspond with admitting to refusing to submit to the test. The Narragansett Police Department will be dropping the drunken driving charge, according to the article. McManus had been charged following a hit-and-run earlier this month in Naragansett, RI.

A Marlborough man was arrested by Sudbury police over the weekend.
A Marlborough man was arrested by Sudbury police over the weekend and charged withoperating under the influence of liquor. Sudbury Police stopped a vehicle at about 2:19 a.m. on May 5 on Wayside Inn Road. Following an investigation by the responding officer, the drive, Daren M. Paz, 22, of 105 2nd Road, was arrested and charged with: Paz was held until his scheduled arraignment at Framingham District Court the morning of May 6.

Bishop Robert McManus was arrested on Saturday evening.
Following a hit and run in Narragansett, RI, on Saturday night, Worcester Roman Catholic Bishop Robert McManus was arrested for drunk driving, reported CBS Boston. CBS Boston also ran a statement from McManus, which was released on Monday morning, in which he wrote, "There is no excuse for the mistake I made, only a commitment to make amends and accept the consequences of my action. More importantly, I ask forgiveness from the good people whom I serve, as well as my family and friends, in the Diocese of Worcester and the Diocese of Providence." McManus was arrested while at his vacation home shortly after the hit and run. He will be arraigned on Tuesday.

Area police were busy in the last week as they dealt with a number of issues.
From a suspicious man at playing fields to intoxicated drivers, it was a busy week for area police. The week started with concern caused by a man reportedly walking his dog at area fields while youth sports were being played. The Hudson man has been investigated by Hudson police and is not deemed a threat, said Marlborough Police Chief Mark Leonard. He encouraged parents to keep an eye out while at the sports fields, however, saying that there have been cases where people who probably should not have been at the fields were present. A man has been charged with assaulting a woman in the city. He first allegedly attacked her with a letter opener, according to police, and then he struck her with a wooden board. A man was allegedly intoxicated when he hit a tractor trailer with his car.
An allegedly intoxicated Marlborough man reportedly struck a tractor-trailer at a Westborough intersection Wednesday after driving erratically from Grafton to Westborough. Westborough Police arrested Derek P. Azzolino, 21, of 175 Maple St. #103 Marlborough and charged him with operating under the influence of alcohol after giving him field sobriety tests, Police Chief Alan Gordon said in a press release. Police also charged Azzolino with operating so as to endanger and failure to stop for a stop sign, according to the release. A Hudson man was arrested Wednesday morning with a reported half full can of beer in his car.
A Hudson man reportedly smelled of alcohol and was swaying after he was pulled over by Marlborough Police early Wednesday morning. "Mr. Bradlee told me he had two beers and a shot of tequila within the last hour and a half. Mr. Bradlee had a flushed appearance and (red) bloodshot eyes," wrote Marlborough Police Officer Rafael Faria in his report. Faria had pulled over Timothy M. Bradlee, 43, of 10 Cayuga Dr. in Hudson shortly after 2 a.m. after he observed Bradlee's vehicle leave the Half Way Bar and Restaurant and proceed down the road above the speed limit.
