A Marlborough man was charged with simple assault after an incident in a New Hampshire nightclub Sunday morning during which police used a Taser.
A disturbance at Club Drynk in Concord, NH resulted in the arrest of four people, one of whom lives in Marlborough, and the use of a Taser by an officer. At 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Police Officer Casey Finn, who was assigned as a detail officer at the club at 20 Old Granite Street, went to the back of a club where a disturbance was underway, according to a release from the police department. The officer assisted and saw the man suddenly pull away from the security officer and push him backwards, according to the release. A Marlborough man was killed in a hunting accident this past November, and a New Hampshire grand jury has charged the man who pulled the trigger.

The man who shot and killed Marlborough resident Kenneth Brunelle in an early November hunting incident has been indicted by a New Hampshire grand jury, the Boston Globe reports. Brunelle, 31, was a first time hunter out with his father and brother on the first day of the 2011 firearm season, when Wade Holmes, 49, of Lisbon, NH, fired his weapon killing him instantly. WMUR-TV in New Hampshire reported that Holmes did not wait to pinpoint his target before firing, and has been subsequently charged with negligent homicide and reckless shooting. Two hikers from Marlborough required the aid of New Hampshire Fish and Game officers after becoming unsure of their way as they descended Mt. Monadnock in Keene, NH. Sunday evening. Joseph Winer, 22, and Allison Smith, 17, began their hike at 2:30 p.m., said the Boston Globe. "They started their descent from the summit at about 6 p.m. Neither hiker had a flashlight or headlamp and eventually became stranded due to darkness." Fish and game officers found the pair at 9:45 p.m. and assisted their descent down the mountain. The New Hampshire primary on Tuesday launches the first of the official voting for the Republican candidate in the 2012 presidential election. Who would you pick?
With the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, Jan. 10, the race for the Republican candidate heats up. According to a Suffolk University poll as reported on 2012newhampshireprimary.com, Romney dropped four percentage points to 35 percent. The former Massachusetts governor still holds a 15 point lead, but his margin has declined by eight percentage points since last Tuesday, when 43 percent of likely Republican voters backed Romney. The Suffolk poll reports that Romney trails Paul at 20 percent, Huntsman is at 11 percent, Newt Gingrich is at nine percent and Rick Santorum dropped another point to eight percent overnight. Rick Perry and Buddy Roemer each had one percent. According to the poll, 15 percent remain undecided.

According to New Hampshire police officials, a Marlborough man was killed in an opening day hunting accident early Wednesday. Kenneth Brunelle, 31, was shot while deer hunting with a firearm in Lisbon, NH, said a statement from the New Hampshire Department of Fish and Game. "A 31-year-old man who was hunting with his father and brother on the opening day of New Hampshire's firearms deer hunting season was fatally shot today at approximately 8 a.m. by another hunter in the vicinity," said officials.
