100 Years Ago: A Child Murdered, Details a Mystery

Six days a weeks Marlborough Patch will highlight an interesting story from the Marlborough Daily Enterprise published on that date 100 years ago.

July 11, 1911: Body of Infant Found in Pigpen: Mutilated Body Discovered in Rice St. Piggery by Young Buckley This Morning The mutilated body of an infant boy was found this Tuesday morning about 8 o'clock in the pig pen under the barn in the rear of the residence of Thomas Hurley, 23 Rice St. The body was discovered by Edward, eight years old son of policeman J.J. Buckley. When found the left arm was gone, the head badly mutilated and the abdomen was horribly cut. Marlborough Man is Charged with Attempted Murder After Strangling Woman

Police discovered a serious domestic assault after responding to a 911 hang-up early Thursday.

After responding to a second attempted murder call in less than a week, the Marlborough Police Department has a local man in custody.  At approximately 4:45 a.m. this morning, state police returned a 911 hang-up call and heard a women crying in the background. Marlborough police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene.  When police arrived at the 85 Broad St. address they found a domestic assault in progress and arrested Odiney Azevedo, 30, of 85 Broad St. Apt. 213, on charges of attempted murder and impeding an investigation through witness intimidation.  "The victim had been strangled," said Detective Scott DeCiero. June 17-19: Attempted Murder Charges Levied Against Liberty St. Resident

The arrest information included was supplied by the Marlborough Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction. All arrests are reported.

Friday: 1:22 a.m.: Timothy Bartkus, 41, of 20 Athol Rd., Royalston, is arrested during a motor vehicle stop in the vicinity of the 495 South on-ramp. He is charged with driving with a suspended/revoked license for OUI, and making a U-turn where sign prohibits.  2:25 a.m.: Police respond to a domestic disturbance at Capital Farms, 554 Boston Post Rd., and arrest Dennis Fisette, 29, of 37 Bowstring Way, on charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.  5:44 p.m.: A past instance of breaking and entering/burglary at 183 Lakeshore Dr. is reported to police.  5:59 p.m.: Officers serve a restraining order at  the Stone Gate Apartments, 240 Main St. Apt. 104. 6:41 p.m.: Brandi Jeanne Roderiques, 28, of 42 Taft St…

Marlborough Woman Set on Fire, Boyfriend Charged with Attempted Murder

Late Saturday evening, police received a call from a woman who had been set on fire after a domestic argument.

State Police fielded a disturbing 911 phone call late Saturday evening, and the Marlborough Police Department, along with local rescue services, responded to the call in which a local woman claimed she had been set on fire by her boyfriend. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police responded to 51 Liberty St. and found the victim had received second and third degree burns to her back, arms and hands, after her boyfriend intentionally poured a chemical accelerant on her during a domestic argument then proceeded to light her on fire, police said.  The victim was treated at the scene and then transported to Umass Worcester with second and third degree burns.  According to a press release from MPD, the investigation into the incident led police to …
