Murderer Remains Behind Bars and Officer Assaulted

Police have been busy this week, with an officer being assaulted while arresting an alleged thief and a convicted murderer remaining behind bars.

The biggest crime news in Marlborough this week comes from a 2004 case. The conviction of a Marlborough man who had been found guilty of murder was upheld in court earlier this week. The story involves a party gone wrong and a single gun shot. A police officer was assaulted by an alleged thief who had been seen taking items from a parked car at an apartment complex. The officer was uninjuered in the incident. Another officer was reportedly injured shortly after in an unrelated incident.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court affirmed the conviction of Dwayne Taylor, who in serving a life sentence for the 2004 murder of David Fleet, and declined to order a new trial or reduce the murder conviction to a lesser degree of guilt. The court upheld Dwayne Taylor's first degree murder conviction stemming from a 2004 shooting when they denied all four issues he raised on appeal yesterday. "We are pleased the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court today has upheld the conviction of Dwayne Taylor for the murder of David Fleet," Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone said. I often don't understand certain people getting bail, but I suppose the judge has a lot to take into account. First time arrests, etc... As for showing up, if they were given bail by a bondsman, that individual has a serious interest in getting these individuals to court. Let's hope they are there.   more ›
