On one of the coldest morning of the winter thus far, a portion of Marlborough's senior community had to be evacuated from the Liberty Hill apartments, 240 Main St., due to a fire. At approximately 2:30 a.m., the Marlborough Fire Department responded to a multiple alarm fire at the facility that is adjacent to the Marlborough Senior Center on upper Main Street. According to a release from the fire department, multiple engines responded to the scene and discover a large amount of smoke on the third floor of the facility. Personnel and mutual aid were called from several surrounding towns to help evacuate the facility and attend to the residents. Two defendants are getting ready for jury selection pertaining to a robbery this past fall, and a drunk driver is free on bail.
