Share Your Small Business Saturday Deals with Patch

Marlborough Patch is compiling a list of Small Business Saturday deals. Share yours here.

Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses their community thrives on. This year, Marlborough Patch is gathering local Small Business Saturday deals. If you are a small business owner, leave your deal in the comments section below, and it will be added to the list. You can also email your deal to marlborough@patch.com or send a message on Facebook. Drumais Salon Celebrates Big Win in Readers' Choice

Best of Patch: Readers' Choice winner this week was Drumais Salon by a landslide, both in votes and comments.

After getting off to a fast start in the voting for week four in Best of Patch: Readers' Choice, Drumais Hair Salon finished strong with more than 100 votes and dozens of comments in support of the Marlborough business.  "We are absolutely thrilled about the win; this is very exciting," said owner Christian Dumais.  Having only been in business just over a year, Dumais said he was encouraged greatly by the support. His secret for success? "We are like a big family here and we take pride in what we do," he said. Education is important to us, and we try to educate our customers about what we do as well, and I think that resonates with people." In celebration of the win, Dumais said that for a limited time Marlborough Patch readers can call …

What Would You Like to See Here?

The former language center at 193 Main Street has been vacant for months now.

This retail unit at 193 Main St. in downtown Marlborough was at one time the New Language Center, Inc., but more recently it's been just another empty space.  The 1500 square foot facility is zoned for business purposes and is on the real estate market to be leased for $1,100 a month.  As part of a five tenant retail plaza with an address of 205 Main St., the real estate agent says the space could be used for a variety of purposes.  " (It was) previously used as a classroom style build-out, but can be used for fast food, med spa, massage therapy, plus much more," said the listing. "Full second floor available for storage or offices if additional space is needed for your business." What do you think would go well at this location? Take out…

Review This: Stevie's Eatery

What do you think about this recent addition to the Marlborough restaurant/barbecue scene?

Stevie's Eatery offers an array of homemade dishes that span several culinary disciplines. From their mac and cheese to the pulled pork, many in Marlborough consider this spot a hidden gem.  Located inside the Marshall's, Job Lot plaza on East Main St., the business has had a hard time getting its name out to the community at times. Have you been there recently? If so, how was the food? What menu items would you recommend? Do you go often? What would make you go there more?  See our review here.  Please share your review with your fellow Patch neighbors and friends. To review the place click here and scroll down to the "Rate This Business" section, or post a review in the comment field below. Or rate other food establishments in the "…

Restaurant Reporter

OPINION: Homemade Sausage and Large Portions at Stephen Anthony's

This weekend, consider treating yourself to brunch at Stephen Anthony's.

Stephen Anthony’s Restaurant is not what one would refer to as a hip brunch spot. The large one dining room looks as if a small army of grandmas decorated it — the chair and booth cushions are floral, drawings and photos documenting life in the early 1900s line the walls. Yet the atmosphere is one of comfort, and peacefulness if folks are able to snag one of the tables overlooking the pond and woods. Although the restaurant does serve lunch and dinner, breakfast/brunch seems to draw the large crowds. According to the staff, if you want to beat the Sunday rush, arrive before 10 a.m. And it’s easy to see what lures folks to the establishment. Portions are large and tasty, and prices are reasonable. If you enjoy sausage, don’t miss Stephen …

Thank you for reminding me about Stephen Anthony's! When my Dad was alive, my son and I would go there all the time for a weekday brunch. Dad loved the Belgian Waffles, and my son was three and called it the "waffle and sausage place". I love the variety of pancakes. We always enjoyed the food and the servers were always kind to us, our little party of three generations that often required a …   more ›
