The National Weather Service has issued a notice to many areas in southern New England, including the Marlborough area, advising residents of an upcoming extended period of bad weather. Expected to begin sometime Thursday evening with snow that could leave several inches, the precipitation combined with the cold weather is expected to make area roads quite hazardous. "Widespread snow showers are expected tonight across southern New England with snow accumulations of one or two inches likely," said a NOAA release. "Given the recent cold weather, roads will become snow covered and slippery quickly." The Massachusetts State Police recently issued a statement advising drivers to be extra cautious during bad weather. "Be mindful that wet, …

A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of Massachusetts and New England, with forecasters expecting one to three inches of snow to accumulate in the Marlborough area. The advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. Thursday, until 1 p.m. in the afternoon. "Driving and walking on untreated roadways and sidewalks will be difficult," said a release from the National Weather Service. "Motorists need to be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and secondary roadways where slippery spots can easily develop." The Massachusetts State Police also advised drivers to extra cautious during the bad weather, though typical for this time of year. "Be mindful that wet, icy and snow-covered roads require increased stopping time," said police. "…

The weather, as many have already seen, took a turn toward winter Wednesday. The National Weather Service early Wednesday morning issued a hazardous weather outlook for much of New England, including Marlborough and much of Central and Eastern Massachusetts. Rain will continue Wednesday, turning to snow overnight as a cold front moves in, according to the outlook. A "low probability" exists for one to two inches of snow in the area late Wednesday, which should produce slippery conditions on roads and slow the Thursday commute. As temperatures drop, the Massachusetts State Police warn that icy road conditions could develop. "The timing of the storm will leave messy conditions for the Thursday morning commute," said police. Of particular …

Lt. Gov. Tim Murray was in Framingham Monday night meeting and talking with MetroWest residents. In this video, he defends the state's stance on not signing onto the federal Secure Communities Program.
Lt. Gov. Tim Murray was in Framingham Monday night as part of a new "summer conversation" tour across the state, in which he meets and talks with residents. In this video, he defends the state's stance on not signing onto the federal Secure Communities Program, a position Marlborough's state senator Jamie Eldridge, who was in the audience, agrees with. Holliston mom Peri Lamb asked the Lt. Governor Tim Murray to explain why Massachusetts has opted not to sign up for the federal Secure Communities program. Under the federal program, which Boston piloted, each time a person is arrested his or her fingerprints are run through a federal database, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Those who are living in Massachusetts …

Massachusetts becomes the third state – after Illinois and New York – to abandon the program.
Governor Deval Patrick has decided not to sign the Secure Communities program. The federal program is already in place in 36 states. The program uses the Homeland Security database to check the status of anybody, who is arrested in Massachusetts, for immigration status. Secure Communities has been a pilot program in Boston since 2008. According to official numbers more than 60 percent of migrants arrested and deported are workers with no criminal background. Josiane Martinez, a press secretary for the state, confirmed that Patrick sent on Friday a letter to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) explaining his own reasons not to make Massachusetts part of the federal program. Now Massachusetts becomes the third state – after Illinois and …

This is not too surprising actually. I am a professional network penetration tester, a local Marlborough resident. and an owner of a company that helps customers find weaknesses in their network and publicly facing applications. My condolences to Workscape. These types of attacks are quite common and happen more then you think. When I perform these tests, I always find some sort of issue, and …   more ›
