After 15 months of homelessness, a Northborough mom found a home for herself and her two young sons.
With nowhere to turn, Kathleen Dallaire brought her two young sons to live in a Northborough hotel after she left her abusive husband more than a year ago. During her 15-month stay at the Northborough hotel, Dallaire struggled to find permanent housing and a place to raise her boys while working part-time. Dallaire reached out to Friends of Families in Transition, who helped the mom in need find a home in Marlborough suited to her and her children.

Winter weather highlights the issue of homelessness. While this isn't an issue that faces Marlborough dramatically, we do see mention of the homeless in the police log from time to time, the rare panhandler, and we have a shelter on Mechanic Street that serves this community in need. "We don't have a lot of homeless, but we do have a shelter," said Det. Scott DeCiero. "I hope that if there are these people out there, they are able to get the help they need." Roland's House on Mechanic Street serves the homeless community in Marlborough as part of SMOC (The South Middlesex Opportunity Council).
