This release was provided by the Foundation for Metrowest. Foundation for MetroWest announced early Friday that it has distributed grants totaling $3,000 to the City of Marlborough Heat & Eat Program and the Marlborough Community Cupboard. The grants were a portion of $55,000 awarded to food pantries throughout the MetroWest region from the Foundation’s English Family Fund and Herbert and Esther Atkinson Fund. “Food pantries and service organizations from around Massachusetts continue to face unprecedented challenges,” said Judith Salerno, executive director of Foundation for MetroWest. “The MetroWest region is no different and we are proud that we have been able to support Marlborough food pantries as they work to fulfill the growing …

The second annual Schartner Farm’s Family Fun Day at the Farm to benefit the new Cancer Pavilion to be built at Marlborough Hospital will be Saturday, Sept. 10, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Attendees can enjoy hay and pony rides, a magician, pick apples, pumpkins and raspberries and the three-and-a-half acre “farm theme” corn maize. Mayor Nancy Stevens was on-hand Wednesday when ForeKicks Sports Complex co-owner Pat Teager presented Marlborough Community Services Executive Director Fatinha Kerr with a check for $1,000. In addition, the donation was awarded specifically to the Food Pantry and director Carol Phipps. “Donations are especially needed during the summer months, and the Food Pantry is extremely grateful for the ongoing and generous support of the Teagers,” said Kerr. Local families struggling to feed their pets received welcome help last year from theMetroWest Humane Society (MWHS). Through their 3-year-old Community Outreach Program, MWHS donated more than 1,300 pounds of dry cat food to local food pantries to help those needing assistance with feeding their cats. "Yes, there are foreclosures and a lack of jobs, but the residents in the MetroWest area have been extremely generous with food donations to MWHS, which in turn enables us to enhance our services to the community,” said Jackie Walters, MWHS Shelter Manager. Local agency receives much needed donation to purchase food and supplies.
The Foundation for MetroWest announced earlier today that it had made a donation of $2,000 to the Food Bank at Marlborough Community Services. The grant was a portion of a $50,000 donation awarded to food pantries throughout the Metro West region from the Foundation's English Family Fund, and was a welcome contribution during difficult times. "We are so grateful for this," said Fatinha Kerr, executive director of Marlborough Community Services. "Donations during past year have been significantly down, and this is a welcome surprise.
