Are You Ready For Winter Driving?

Although many of us got a taste of winter and icy roads recently, AAA of Southern New England has put out some tips to help you drive through the upcoming winter months.

Nearly one-quarter of weather related vehicle crashes occur on snowy, slushy or icy pavement, resulting in more than 1,300 deaths and 116,800 people injured annually, according to data from the Federal Highway Administration. With AccuWeather's winter forecast calling for above-normal snowfall in some parts of the country and the first official day of winter Dec. 21, AAA Southern New England, which has an office in Marlborough on Boston Post Road West, recommends motorists brush up on winter driving techniques before the weather outside turns frightful. Worcester County Sobriety Checks this Weekend

The Massachusetts State Police announced recently that they will be setting up sobriety checkpoints this weekend in Worcester county.

The Massachusetts State Police announced recently that they will be conducting more sobriety checkpoints on public roadways in Worcester county this coming weekend. Marlborough is partially located within Worcester County, and is therefore subject the possible checks.  "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J. McGovern, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, in a press release. Another Round of Sobriety Checks for Middlesex Tonight

The Massachusetts State Police will be back out on the roadways make sobriety stops this Friday night.

The Massachusetts State Police are preparing to conduct more sobriety checkpoints on public roadways in Middlesex County this Friday night. "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J. McGovern, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, in a press release. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
