Nearly one-quarter of weather related vehicle crashes occur on snowy, slushy or icy pavement, resulting in more than 1,300 deaths and 116,800 people injured annually, according to data from the Federal Highway Administration. The Massachusetts State Police announced recently that they will be conducting more sobriety checkpoints on public roadways in Worcester county this coming weekend. Marlborough is partially located within Worcester County, and is therefore subject the possible checks. "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J. The Massachusetts State Police are preparing to conduct more sobriety checkpoints on public roadways in Middlesex County this Friday night. "The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," said Colonel Marian J.
