1. A total of 12 percent of Marlborough's voters, 2,498 people, turned out to cast their choice yesterday. 2. The city's website will be down from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday as the web site host will be expanding the capacity of the data center. 3. Cub Scouts to Run Annual Pinewood Derby Saturday

Solomon Pond Mall hosts the Hudson Cub Scouts annual Pinewood Derby Saturday, January 8 from 1-5 p.m.

For those feeling the sluggish fatigue of the winter blues, the pinewood derby offers a glimpse into the energy of the warm months to come in what Reader's Digest has dubbed "a celebrated rite of spring."  This Saturday, from 1-5 p.m., the Hudson Cub Scouts will line the J.C. Penney Court at the Solomon Pond Mall, homemade wooden cars in hand, to compete in this celebrated tradition begun by the Boy Scouts of America in 1953.  The pinewood derby encourages Cub Scouts (who range in age from 7 to 11) and their parents to collaborate on a project together. The wooden cars are fashioned from kits containing a block of pine, metal axles, and wheels, and all cars must adhere to certain design rules, though Cub Scouts are free to decorate the car…
