Joy Asia Offers a Mediocre Buffet, but Plenty of Community Events

Joy Asia Oriental Cuisine & Cocktail Lounge provides entertainment and a large selection of dishes.

There are more happenings at Joy Asia Oriental Cuisine & Cocktail Lounge than at a lot of bars. Karaoke runs on weekends from 8:45 p.m. till almost 1 a.m. (must be 21 to participate). The large bar resembles a sports bar serving Oriental food rather than the typical potato wedges. On Thursday nights, the restaurant transforms into a comedy club. The menu seems as long as the establishment is large. Vegetarians are in luck with a portion of the menu devoted to vegetable and tofu dishes such as the spicy szechuan tofu with broccoli. The nine different varieties of soup, including the traditional egg drop and wonton soups, will help warm patrons on cold days. I haven't eaten ther in about 6 months due to our last experience. The diningroom walls had food scattered on them in many areas and the place was very unclean. This made us wonder - what does the kitchen look like? I manage a restaurant and would never allow the establishment to be in that condition. Yes, the service slow and the food at the buffet is not hot. Unfortunatly - not impresssed.   more ›

Joy Asia Comedy on Thursdays

A profile of Joy Asia Comedy Night held each Thursday at this popular Chinese food hot spot.

For the last two months, Joy Asia on Rt 20 in Marlborough has been the home of the Happy Ending Comedy Night every Thursday evening from 8:30-11 p.m., providing area comedy fans a chance to see up-and-coming local comics perform, and also giving folks who think they got what it takes, a chance to show their stuff during the open mic session that concludes each Comedy Night.   Already well known around town for its lively karaoke nights, Joy Asia's foray into the local comedy scene was the brainchild of local businessman Bernie Novitch, owner of Collector's Paradise, located at 771 Boston Post Rd. It amazes me that this place is still there. I have never had rude service like this anywhere. And the food is absolutely horrible. The dishes are dirty and the carpet smells like a locker room.   more ›
