Police say recent daytime robberies have focused on easily transported items such as jewelry and cash.
Burglars have been focusing on small, easy to carry items during recent daytime robberies, said Police Chief Mark Leonard. “We don’t see them taking televisions and anything large. It seems to be smaller items," said the chief. These items can be easily transported and readily turned into cash in the case of jewelry, he said. This has been the case for three recent home robberies during the day in Marlborough. Another fits the pattern, but the time it occured has not been determined, he said. These fit with a series of break-ins that have been occuring in all the surrounding towns, said Chief Leonard. There have been quite a few in Northborough, where residents are on high alert. Three men have had a slew of charges leveled against them following two alleged break-ins.
Three men have been arrested on charges stemming from two break-ins following a police investigation. “Through investigation, it was determined that (the three men) broke into a residence on Nashoba Drive," said Detective Scott DeCiero from the Community Services Bureau of Marlborough Police Department. The three men, identified as Keith Warren, 18, of 69 Union Street Apt. 1, Justin Noonan, 22, of 80 Elm Street Apt. 2 and Riley Copeland, 19, of 10 Royal Crest Drive Apt. 4 allegedly broke into that home on Nov. 7. “They gained entry into the home and they stole ammunition from the residence and they also stole several coffee cans full of coins," said Det. DeCiero who explained the coins were not rare but added up to more than $500 in value…

From a man caught with drugs near a school, a domestic disturbance call at the high school and the Monday night shooting; Marlborough police were busy this week.

After responding to a 911 call from a vigilant neighbor Tuesday morning, police discovered a burglary in progress on Bigelow Street. At approximately 9:20 a.m., officers confronted James A. Fancy, 26, of 80 Laurel St., West Boylston, inside 462 Bigelow St. wearing black gloves and holding a hammer in a threatening fashion, said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Marlborough Police Department. A neighbor had previously noticed Fancy approaching the rear of the home after loitering in his vehicle for some time. Once arrived, police searched the perimeter of the home and noticed forced entry. "He had broken the frame of one of the rear windows to gain entry to the home," said DeCiero.
