How Can You Help Animals This Holiday Season?

Area shelters are in need of many items.

  We hear about all sorts of needs this time of year, including for animals. Here is a list of some items needed at area shelters.  Baypath Humane Society Immediate shelter needs: Blue Dawn (penguin on the front), canned dog food (Pedigree, Alpo Prime Cuts), canned cat food (Pate-style), large and medium Kongs, and paper towels.  Also need: Buddy Dog Humane Society For the cats and kittens, its wishlist includes:  For the dogs and puppies, its wishlist includes:  Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester Wish list items include: If you know of another shelter or other items we didn't mention, please tell us in the comments.

Puccini Wants to Make Music in Your Home [VIDEO]

Puccini and Cookie may just be the pets you have been searching for.

Cat: Puccini is an 11-year-old domestic short haired cat. She is sweet and affectionate and is looking for a home with children age 8 and older. A home without any other pets is ideal. Puccini's owner needed a walker and poor Puccini was underfoot and it became a problem. She arrived at Buddy Dog in Sudbury on Sept. 13. Dog: Cookie is a seven-and-a-half year old Beagle. He has been at Buddy Dog for a little over a year and is anxiously awaiting a new home. He was adopted for several months, but the family did not have time to care for him so he was returned. Buddy Dog Humane Society has a friend waiting for you!

Cat: Abby is a six year old domestic long haired cat. She was found abandoned in a park in the city and was brought to Buddy dog on April 29. A home with children age 10 and up would be best for sweet Abby. Dog: Tessie is a six-and-a-half year old Labrador Vizsla Mix. She would be a great dog in the right situation. She is quiet and knows many commands. Tessie is loving and attentive and listens well. Peanut and a Pair of Cats [VIDEO]

Buddy Dog Humane Society has a wide variety of dogs and cats looking for homes.

Cats: Sawyer and Oliver are newcomers to Buddy Dog, arriving on August 23. The 2 year old cats are affectionate boys looking for a home together. Their previous owner felt that they didn't have enough time for the cats and are hoping Buddy Dog will place them in a loving home. Dog: Peanut is also new to Buddy Dog, arriving on August 24. She is a 6 year old Pekingese who came to Buddy Dog as a stray. Peanut is very affectionate and even though she only has one eye, she gets around just fine. It is suggested that Peanut not be placed in a home with small children. Georgia and Bullet are hoping to find a family to call their own.

Cat: Bullet is a 3-year-old domestic short haired cat. He was brought to Buddy Dog in early August after he was found living outside. Bullet is friendly and good natured but very little is known about his past. A home with children age 8 and up is recommended. Dog: Georgia is a 5-year-old Labrador Mix who has spent the last 2 months at Buddy Dog. She is very playful and would love a fenced-in yard with room to run around in. The ideal home for Georgia would be one without cats and with children age 8 and up. Start This Fall With A Pet Adoption [VIDEO]

New arrivals Bullet and Juanito are hoping to make their stay at Buddy Dog a short one.

Cat: Bullet is a 3-year-old domestic short haired cat who arrived at the Buddy Dog Humane Society in Sudbury on Aug. 4. He was brought in as a stray. Bullet is friendly and good natured and would do best in a home with children age 8 and up. Dog: Juanito, or "Nito" as he is called, is a 6-year-old Toy Fox Terrior. He was brought to Buddy Dog on August 23 because his owners moved to a home where pets are not allowed. Nito loves playing with balls and going for walks. His owners describe him as "playful, lovable and cuddly." He would do best in a home with older children and no other pets. Meet Peter the Dog and Easter the Cat [VIDEO]

These are just two of the many cats and dogs awaiting adoption at the Buddy Dog Humane Society.

Cat: Easter is a 5-year-old domestic short haired cat. She is an affectionate cat who was brought to Buddy Dog as a stray. Easter is a mellow lap cat who loves to be petted and held. She enjoys being around kids and other cats, too. A home with children age 5 and up would be best for her. Easter will be a wonderful family pet. Dog: Peter is a 2-year-old Beagle Mix. He came to Buddy Dog as a stray so not too much is known about him. What is known, though, is that he is a sweet dog who enjoys going for walks and cuddling with the staff and volunteers at Buddy Dog. He is looking for a home with children age 10 and up. Sparky and Lo Need a Home [VIDEO]

End the summer on a high note and adopt a new member for your family at Buddy Dog in Sudbury.

Cat: Lo is a two-year-old domestic long haired cat. She is a super sweet kitty who has grown up in a home with lots of cats. Lo loves attention and will fit well into almost any family situation. A home with children over the age of 5 would be best. Dog: Sparky is a 10-month-old Terrier mix. His previous owner surrendered him to Buddy Dog because they felt that they could not give him enough time. Sparky has not had a lot of training which seems to have affected his confidence. But, placed in a loving home (with children over age 10) routine and training he will be a happy, wonderful companion. Georgia and Miss. Mustard Are Looking For Homes

Take a trip to Buddy Dog in Sudbury and adopt an animal today.

Cat: Miss. Mustard arrived at Buddy Dog on July 14 at just 10 weeks old. She was found outside all by herself and is still learning to be around people. Wouldn't she be a wonderful addition to your family? Dog: Georgia is a 5-year-old Labrador Mix who is relatively new to Buddy Dog. She is looking for a home without any cats but possibly another dog. The perfect scenario for Georgia would be a home with a fenced in yard where she can play freely. She especially enjoys playing with stuffed animals and fetch with a ball.
