Marlborough Names Sanchez & Santiago as the Place to go for Taxes

In this week's edition of Best of Patch Readers' Choice, readers voted for their favorite tax preparer.

The accounting office of Sanchez & Santiago earned a dominant victory this week when Marlborough Patch asked readers to choose their favorite tax preparer in the Best of Patch Readers' Choice contest.  "We try to be a very personable company and keep in touch with our clients throughout the year," said Carol Sanchez. "We don't just say 'come see us once a year,' and people appreciate that." Readers Choose Jake's for Breakfast

The Main Street breakfast spot came out on top in our Readers' Choice poll.

"Fresh, not fancy," is what you'll get at Jake's Restaurant & Coffee Shop, according to owner Loucas Comitas. And that's the preference among Marlborough Patch readers, who have voted Jake's "the best place to get breakfast" in the city. "I feel privileged, and accepted in the city of Marlborough," Comitas said. "At this point, I feel obligated to maybe create new menu items and improve our customer service even more." Jake's just celebrated its ninth anniversary on March 24, Comitas said. Great service, as well as delicious food and large portions, is what he believes sets the restaurant apart. Had some of the Maple Sausage yesterday morning. One of the better batches in a while, in my humble opinion. I need to get a walk in, and thinking of a late breakfast of overdone hash browns down at Jake's. Jake's isn't dirty by any means. Drumais Salon Celebrates Big Win in Readers' Choice

Best of Patch: Readers' Choice winner this week was Drumais Salon by a landslide, both in votes and comments.

After getting off to a fast start in the voting for week four in Best of Patch: Readers' Choice, Drumais Hair Salon finished strong with more than 100 votes and dozens of comments in support of the Marlborough business.  "We are absolutely thrilled about the win; this is very exciting," said owner Christian Dumais.  Having only been in business just over a year, Dumais said he was encouraged greatly by the support. His secret for success? "We are like a big family here and we take pride in what we do," he said. Education is important to us, and we try to educate our customers about what we do as well, and I think that resonates with people." Voters Say Kennedy's Pub is the Place to Be on St. Paddy's Day

Over the past week, Marlborough residents have been voting for their spot to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.

While it seems there are several local businesses gearing up to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, voters in this week's Best of Patch: Readers' Choice poll chose Kennedy's Pub as the place to go. With 36 percent of the vote, Kennedy's claimed the win over runners-up The Prospector and Sully's.  "Jay Murphy and his band the McMurphy's will be playing music in the restaurant all day Saturday and of course we will be offering our great corned beef and cabbage," said manager and host Julie Doherty. "People sing and dance; It is just a great time." Doherty said that they were thrilled to be picked as the winner. "It gives us great pleasure that people recognized us," she said. New Life's patrons brought home the prize for Marlborough's gym with lots of votes and comments, just barely beating out the competition.

UPDATE, March 12, 2:30 p.m.: Speaking from New Life Health and Wellness on Monday, owner Sandra Condon said she was very pleased by the results of the poll.  "I am thankful to our customers for getting out the vote and giving us this win," said Condon. _________ There was a passionate debate on Marlborough Patch over the past week concerning who runs the best gym in the city.  In contention were Gold's, Planet Fitness, Crossfit of Marlborough, the Wayside Racquet & Swim Club and the winner by a narrow margin: New Life Heath and Wellness.
