Officer Assaulted at Marlborough Bar

A police officer was reportedly attacked by a drunken patron at a Marlborough bar.

A night out in the city for a Vermont man allegedly ended in him assaulting and injuring a police officer after he got drunk and aggressive. Police responded to the Prospector East Saloon on Lincoln Street shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Friday night. They had responded to a report of a drunken man trying to fight people at the bar, reported Marlborough Police Officer James OMalley. "(His) conduct was disorderly due to him trying to fight other patrons at the bar and using threatening force in a violent and tumultuous manner," wrote OMalley of a man later identified as James Francis Sadlier Jr., 22, of 22 Forbes Rd. Underage Driver Nabbed for Negligent Driving

Speeding and spinning tires driving caused police to pull over a 15 year-old recently.

Spinning front tires and speeding drew the attention of police before they arrested a 15 year-old last week. “The officer observed the vehicle accelerate out of control spinning the front tires of the vehicle,” said Det. Scott DeCiero of the Community Services Bureau of the Marlborough Police Department. The police officer continued to observe the vehicle drive down Stevens Street where is reportedly nearly hit another vehicle after crossing over the center line. “It crossed over the line and passed a vehicle on Stevens Street," said DeCiero. Police pulled over the car and found that a 15 year-old male was driving it. He had no license, according to police. A Suspicious Man, Intoxicated Drivers and Wooden Board Used as Weapon

Area police were busy in the last week as they dealt with a number of issues.

From a suspicious man at playing fields to intoxicated drivers, it was a busy week for area police. The week started with concern caused by a man reportedly walking his dog at area fields while youth sports were being played. The Hudson man has been investigated by Hudson police and is not deemed a threat, said Marlborough Police Chief Mark Leonard. He encouraged parents to keep an eye out while at the sports fields, however, saying that there have been cases where people who probably should not have been at the fields were present. A man has been charged with assaulting a woman in the city. He first allegedly attacked her with a letter opener, according to police, and then he struck her with a wooden board. Marlborough Driver Strikes Tractor-Trailer; Charged with OUI

A man was allegedly intoxicated when he hit a tractor trailer with his car.

An allegedly intoxicated Marlborough man reportedly struck a tractor-trailer at a Westborough intersection Wednesday after driving erratically from Grafton to Westborough. Westborough Police arrested Derek P. Azzolino, 21, of 175 Maple St. #103 Marlborough and charged him with operating under the influence of alcohol after giving him field sobriety tests, Police Chief Alan Gordon said in a press release. Police also charged Azzolino with operating so as to endanger and failure to stop for a stop sign, according to the release. Man Arrested for Third OUI and Having Open Container

A Hudson man was arrested Wednesday morning with a reported half full can of beer in his car.

A Hudson man reportedly smelled of alcohol and was swaying after he was pulled over by Marlborough Police early Wednesday morning. "Mr. Bradlee told me he had two beers and a shot of tequila within the last hour and a half. Mr. Bradlee had a flushed appearance and (red) bloodshot eyes," wrote Marlborough Police Officer Rafael Faria in his report. Faria had pulled over Timothy M. Bradlee, 43, of 10 Cayuga Dr. in Hudson shortly after 2 a.m. after he observed Bradlee's vehicle leave the Half Way Bar and Restaurant and proceed down the road above the speed limit.
