The Marlborough Girls Softball League celebrated the start of their 20 season recently.

The Baldelli family was honored of the opening day of the 20th season of the Marlborough Girls Softball League for donating the field they played on. Athlete of the Week: Yuuki Sato

This Marlborough High School senior sports a perfect tennis record.

Name: Yuuki Sato Graduating Class: 2012 Team: Marlborough Boys Varsity Tennis Sato said that his mother used to make him play tennis when he was younger and he started competing in the sport in 2008 when he was an eighth grader. “Other than the fact that my serves never go in, I deeply enjoy playing tennis,” Sato shared. When asked what he loved most about the sport, he said, “If I had to pick something, definitely, (it would be) the joy of ripping a winner shot down the alley. Feels way too good.” Stats: Sato remains undefeated with a 7-0 record in third singles. The team’s record is 5-2. POLL: Did a Hockey Fan Go Too Far with Racial Slur on Twitter?

We all love sports, but did a hockey fan on Twitter go too far after the Boston Bruins lost in Game 7?

Just minutes after Washington Capitals Forward Joel Ward made the winning goal in the seventh game of the Stanley Cup semi-finals, some disgruntled fans posted racial slurs against the player on Twitter, according to Boston.com. We all love our sports teams, especially in New England with the recent wins of the Stanley Cup by the Boston Bruins, the countless Super Bowl wins by the New England Patriots and the World Series wins by the Boston Red Sox in the last decade, but did these fans take it too far? Do you think it was just one or two fans angry over the loss or is this something more serious and a sign that our culture is still battling racial divides? Marlborough Runners and Where They Finished

More than a dozen Marlborough residents ran the 116th Boston Marathon on Monday with all but two finishing the full event.

More than a dozen Marlborough residents faired very well in the 116th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday. Under extremely unseasonable temperatures, approximately 5,000 decided not to run and many were adversly affected by the heat. Only one registered Marlborough resident did not start the race. Marlborough Resident Runs for a Cure

John Tanner is running the Boston Marathon to raise money to find a cure for Batten Disease.

Name:  John Tanner Age:  46 How Many Times Has He Run the Boston Marathon? Seven times in Boston and also Chicago, New York City and Newport, RI. Internationally, Tanner has run in Berlin, Germany, Iceland, Dublin, Ireland and Toronto, Canada. Tanner also does several 5K and 10K races throughout the year. "I'm not sure exactly how many marathons I've done, but it's definitely 20 plus," said Tanner. Why Does He Run? "As a kid, I would watch the Boston Marathon in Ashland," Tanner explained, "I told myself that someday I want to run in it." UPDATED: Numerous Marathon Runners Treated for Heat

Many Marathon runners have reportedly been affected by the heat today.

  UPDATED: Lynn Walz, aid station supervisor, said "We've had an abnormal number of patients. ... Most have heat exhaustion, but some have other injuries," such as sprained ankles and bad knees.   EARLIER: Patch has received an alert of a "mass casualty incident," as an ambulance task force was requested for numerous runners in the Boston Marathon who have suffered heat related injuries. It is presently 82 degrees in the area of the Marathon. Last year's leading runner dropped out because of the heat, according to a report on WBZ. Visit Patch for updates on this story

Boston Marathon Issues Heat Advisory, Offers Deferment

Inexperienced marathoners are warned not to run on Monday.

Runners scheduled to run the Boston Marathon on Monday were advised to do so with caution. Because of the expected high temperatures of nearly 90 degrees on Monday, the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) issued an email statement on Saturday morning which offered a deferment to any official runner who would like to postpone his or her participation until 2013. “This applies to official entrants only who either have claimed or will claim their bib number packet at the John Hancock Sports & Fitness Expo through Sunday evening at the Seaport World Trade Center in South Boston,” the statement read. Marlborough Runner Has Goal to Run in All 50 States

Douglas Sylvester has run in 15 marathons and is adding one more to his total on Monday.

Name: Douglas Sylvester Age: 42 How Many Times Has He Run the Boston Marathon? Three times in a row in Boston and also in New Hampshire, Maine, Tennessee and Las Vegas, NV. As of today, New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski is still nursing his injured ankle. It's almost game day and we want to know who you think will win. It's the same match up as four years ago in the Super Bowl, when the NY Giants took down the New England Patriots with just a small margin of 17-14. Speculation has been flying around all week about who has the best offense and defense and if Gronkowski will be able to play, which could put the Patriots over the top.
