Friday, Dec. 6

Home for the Holidays, Marlborough Union Common, 6 p.m. The city will hold its annual Home for the Holidays celebration, featuring the tree lighting and music from students at Marlborough High School.

The Student Showcase, 7 p.m., Marlborough High School Little Theatre.

Amahl and the Night Visitors and the Gift of the Magi, 7:30 p.m, Hudson Town Hall.

Saturday, Dec. 7

Ornament Making Workshops, beginning at 10 a.m., Post Road Art Center, Marlborough. The first workshop is 10 am to noon, focusing on a top hat snowman. The second is 1 to 3 p.m. for a winter teddy bear. Workshops are $30 each, supplies included.

Pet Photos with Santa, a Fundraiser for Marlborough K-9 Officer Kaiser, 10 a.m., 367 W. Main St., Northborough. Companion Pet Sitting/K9 Hydrotherapy is holding the second annual fundraiser for a local police dog. Kaizer, the Marlborough K9 Police dog partnered with Officer Ken McKenzie. Appointments will be taken. Minimum $30 donation for photos.

Holiday Free Sale, 2 to 5 p.m., Unitarian Church of Marlborough and Hudson. Give an item, Take an item, or Give and Take an item.

Free Holiday Handbell Concert, 7 p.m., First Church Congregational, 37 High St., Marlborough. This concert by the Merrimack Valley Ringers will feature "A Dash through the Snow" handbell style. The concert is for all ages and will include Christmas carols in new and old arrangements played on 5 octaves of handbells and handchimes by 15 auditioned musicians.

Sunday, Dec. 8

Solomon Pond Mall hosts Caring Santa. This is an environment for children and parents who need a more subdued setting to meet with Santa and share gift wishes. 8 to 9:30 a.m., Solomon Pond Mall, Marlborough.

Open Houses in Marlborough.

Home Canning Workshop, 2 to 4:30 p.m., Stevie's Eatery, 222 E. Main St., Marlborough. $5 fee. Learn to make homemade apple sauce and apple muffins. Everyone will take home a few quarts. Register in advance to allow the presenter to have enough materials on hand.
