Christopher, a Reading Therapy Dog, Visits Marlborough Saturday

The chocolate lab will be available to listen to children read stories to him in 15-minute appointments.

Christopher, a chocolate lab, returns to Marlborough Public Library Saturday and is available for 15-minute reading sessions with children learning to read.

The children read aloud to the dog, who listens without interruption. It provides children with a boost of confidence as they practice their reading skills, said Geralyn Schultz, a children's librarian at the Marlborough Public Library.

"It's fun and it's low pressure," she said, of the appeal of reading to the dog. Parents are encouraged to sign up for specific 15-minute intervals by calling Schultz at 508-624-6902. The location is the Story Hour Room.

Christopher comes by the library once a month for the reading
