POLL: The State of Homelessness in Marlborough

What are your perceptions of this issue; let us know.

Winter weather highlights the issue of homelessness.

While this isn't an issue that faces Marlborough dramatically, we do see mention of the homeless in the police log from time to time, the rare panhandler, and we have a shelter on Mechanic Street that serves this community in need.

"We don't have a lot of homeless, but we do have a shelter," said Det. Scott DeCiero. "I hope that if there are these people out there, they are able to get the help they need."

Roland's House on Mechanic Street serves the homeless community in Marlborough as part of .

"The Roland's House is a temporary emergency shelter serving up to 18 men and women. Roland's House is linked to SMOC's continuum of housing and services through the Common Ground Resource Center," says the website. "Guests at Roland's House are eligible for employment and housing search services, mental health and substance abuse services and more."

As of this post a representative of the shelter was unable to comment, but we will add their thoughts on the issue as soon as possible.
