Congratulations to the five who ran the Black Cat yesterday.  There was both a 10 and 20 mile race – Nice work, some great times!  What we want to know is if Melanie bought scratch tickets?

Best of luck to the folk who are running around the hilly track at the Wachusett Reservoir at the Stu’s 30K today.

SAVE THE DATE.  The HCS Annual Meeting will be on Wednesday, March 12th in the evening, 6:30PM at the Hudson Elks Lodge.  We will have food available from 6:30 to 7:00 and then we will have a few presentations -  one on bio-mechanics and then a demonstration of yoga moves & techniques beneficial to runners.   Finally, we will do a little HCS business, elections, and go thru our 2014 program.  We are looking for your ideas to make our club better.  Please RSVP so we have a headcount for food– thanks very much.

St Patrick’s Day 3.17 Mile Fun Run.  Also, please plan on joining us on Monday, March 17th at 5:30 PM for our annual St Patrick’s Day Fun Run at Finnegan’s Pub.  This is not a road race – it is a group run, where we all run together.  Be sure to come with your orange or your green.  This is an HCS Camaraderie Event.

Introducing the Spirit of Hudson 6K Road Race – Saturday, June 7th in conjunction with the annual Hudson Community Festival.  We are currently in the process of putting the road race planning team together.  Please consider sharing your talents and help us make this year’s race the best one yet.  If you are interested, please send a note back.  We have “opportunities”!

Couch to 5K program.  HCS member Bill Schade will be leading a Couch to 5K group again this spring, starting on March 24th on the Rail Trail near the parking lot for Kelleher Field in Marlborough (as long as the snow is gone).  This program is sponsored by the fine folk a the Connecting Point Church in Marlboro.  If you are interested in learning more about it for a friend or volunteering to help lead group workouts, please contact Bill at bill.schade@comcast.net. Bill is always looking for folk to help out.  Please consider joining Bill help others get off their couch and get healthy!  If you know of someone who might benefit from this program,

they can register here

Striders After Dark.  Just a reminder that we have our Striders After Dark program running on Tuesdays and Thursdays and track workouts on Wednesday evenings.  See the monthly schedule up on the website for details.

Looking for a discount on running apparel?  Miles to Go Sports on Route 146 in Sutton MA is offering  a club/team discount of 15% for apparel/footwear, 10% on food and other accessories to HCS members.  Once in awhile they run deeper promotions so during those times the deeper discount always applies.

Governor Cellucci Tribute Road Race.  Had a chance to take part in a meeting this week planning a big road race in Hudson on Saturday, August 2nd.  The race, which will raise funds for UMASS research focused on finding a cure for ALS, is planned to run right through the downtown in Hudson.  Should be quite the event!
