Northborough: When the girls on the Algonquin cross country team heard about Sweats for Vets from their Coach Ellen Marieni, they immediately wanted to help the organization. Sweats for Vets is a local organization that raises Boston team sweat shirts for homeless veterans. After discussing the possibilities of fundraising, the girls developed a plan and schedule. “The team created posters, advertised, made baked goods, and staffed the table in the cafeteria during all three lunches,” exclaimed Coach Marieni. Their efforts were tiring, yet their results were extremely successful. Yesterday, they presented a check for $200 to the President of Sweats for Vets Mark Vital.
