Haunted Homes in Marlborough? You Bet!

Neighbors have also reported seeing an elderly man roaming the grounds in period clothing.

It's that time of year! The little ghosts and goblins will soon be knocking on your door looking for tricks....or more likely, treats. As Realtors, one question that sometimes comes up this time of year is this, "Are there really haunted houses in the area?"

According to www.theshadowlands.net the answer is YES. In fact there are haunted places right here in Marlborough according to the site.

Boarding House on Maple Street - Reports of cold spots felt, apparations seen, slamming doors heard. A dresser that was impossible to move was moved far away from the wall and drawers were opened.

Michael Burke Mansion - People who lived in the home after the last of Michael Burke's descendants left experienced strange occurrences ranging from footsteps and other noices coming from unoccupied rooms to actual sightings of a spirit claiming to be Michael Burke. Neighbors have also reported seeing an elderly man roaming the grounds in period clothing. The description of this man sounds like Michael Burke who died in 1938. Burke was a scion of early Irish settlers who became prominent in business, banking, charity, and political affairs in Marlborough.
