A comprehensive directory of learning goals by grade and subject in the Marlborough public schools allows parents to see what their children will be aiming for this year.

On August 29, Marlborough students will return for a new year of learning and growing. But what exactly will they be learning?

Available on the district's website is an exhaustive list of the different areas of learning with details of what concepts and knowledge, skills and 21st century skills will be learned in each area for each grade.

Each document details the learning priorities for the students. They explain that in science classes pre-K through second graders will be learning that air is a mixture of different gases classes while eighth graders will be learning how atoms come together to form compounds.

Learning priorities are always a shifting target, so district officials regard all the documents as drafts. However, they give insight into not only what information will be covered, but importantly the deeper goals of the learning
