Scott Brown to Speak at Marlborough High Commencement

Former U.S. Senator Scott Brown will give the commencement address at the Marlborough High School commencement.

A student petition has successfully landed Former U.S. Senator Scott Brown to give the commencement address at Marlborough High School on June 2.

“I am truly honored to have been chosen by the Marlborough High School Senior Class as their Commencement Speaker. I look forward to the opportunity to meet the students and their families to help them celebrate this special day,” said Senator Brown in a release from the mayor's office sent out Tuesday.

Students in the Class of 2013, led by Senior Alex Pelletier, led the charge to secure Brown as the speaker.

“Alex is an impressive young man and I was thrilled to support his and his fellow classmates efforts. Everyone remembers their high school graduation and I’m heartened to see the Class of 2013 play such an integral role in how they close out their Marlborough High School career,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant.

Pelletier helped collect 143 signatures from his fellow classmates to present to both Marlborough High School Principal Craig Hardimon and Mayor Arthur Vigeant as a demonstration of the students’ interest in having Brown deliver the commencement address.

The mayor said he was more than happy to bolster the student’s petition and worked with both Principal Hardimon as well as Alex Pelletier to draft a joint letter formally extending the invitation.
