Thursday is still the projected date for return of service to Marlborough customers.

UPDATE, 10 a.m.: Mayor Nancy Stevens' office tells us that MPS is offering full bus service today, despite ongoing clean-up efforts on city roads. The information originally provided to Patch is said to have been a miscommunication.

A full class schedule will be awaiting, but some students may need some help getting there.

"Because a few roads are still in need of debris removal and/or repairs, parents are requested to facilitate getting their children to and from school as needed on Wednesday," said Beth Wagner, a spokesperson for the school system.

The will resume classes as well, and all MPS parent-teacher conferences have been postponed.

This announcement comes as a portion of the city is still without power, with more than 210,000 statewide.

Rep. Steven Levy reported on his Facebook page Tuesday afternoon that 14 percent of the city's National Grid customers were still awaiting restoration of service.

He also said that the shelter at the had been closed, but to call or police dispatch at 508-485-1212 if you are in need of help.

Dates as to when the Department of Public Works will pick up debris from the storm, are still being determined.

National Grid spoke with the media early Tuesday afternoon about the current state of affairs.

"We have 2,500 workers in our Massachusetts communities from as far away as Texas and Kansas making repairs to the power system,” said Marcy Reed, president of National Grid Massachusetts. “We know this is a hardship for our customers and we’re grateful for their patience as we work to restore their power. We’re here, we’re on it and we will not stop until everyone has their electricity back.”

Marlborough residents were told Monday evening that they have to wait until Thursday to get their power back, but Reed addressed that as well.

“This does not mean that everyone currently without power will have to wait until Thursday. We are restoring service to customers every hour around the clock and most customers will have their power restored before then,” she said.

National Grid is urging the public to avoid any downed lines. This is especially important now that crews are energizing power lines on local streets and in neighborhoods.

"It is critically important to stay away from any downed wires and call National Grid immediately at 800-465-1212 to report downed lines so crews can respond immediately," said a release.
