Richer Elementary Principal Heads to Grafton

Joanne Stocklin will begin her new job in Grafton on Monday.

Joanne Stocklin has been selected as the new principal at Grafton Elementary School.

She has been the principal of here in Marlborough for the past five years.

"As principal of the Richer Elementary School, Mrs. Stocklin has developed a reputation as an exceptional, student-centered leader," Superintendent of Grafton Schools James Cummings said in a prepared statement.

He said she has a strong track record of working collaboratively to create positive and enriching learning environments for all students. As a principal, he said, Stocklin has developed effective special education programming, built curriculum that is comprehensive and challenging, and has helped foster a school community defined by high levels of engagement and communication.

At , a new team of veteran educators will greet students the first day of school. Former  Assistant Principal Maria Silletti has been named as Stocklin's replacement, bringing six years’ administrative experience to the position. She has served on many curriculum committees, and she was a third-grade teacher for nine years before becoming an administrator, said a release from MPS.

Prior to becoming a principal, Stocklin was an assistant principal in the Westford Public Schools for two years. Mrs. Stocklin has a very strong background in teaching and learning that is founded on an 18-year teaching career.

As a teacher, Stocklin taught grades three and four in Virginia, Maryland, and in the Berlin-Boylston Public Schools prior to entering into administration.

Stocklin earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from The University of Maryland at College Park and a master's degree in educational leadership and management from Fitchburg State University.

Stocklin will be starting as principal at Grafton Elementary School on Monday, Aug. 22.
