Interim Superintendent Pick Could come Thursday

The School Committee has tapped former Westborough schools chief Steven Dlott as its top pick, but has not ruled out considering other candidates as well.

The School Committee could name an interim superintendent Thursday as it moves to get new leadership in place ahead of the coming school year. 

The committee voted at special meeting on July 19 to pursue former Westborough superintendent Steven Dlott for the position

Dlott has served as interim superintendent in the past, having filled that role in Hudson for nearly two years.

However, at that meeting, the committee also agreed to continue accepting resumes submitted to an open job posting for the position. 

. Since then, Maureen Greulich has been serving as acting superintendent.

The committee has not yet laid out a schedule for hiring a permanent replacement for Pope. 

Also Thursday, the School Committee is expected to finalize cuts and other changes necessary to balance the fiscal year 2013 budget. Earlier this month, the committee cleared the way for hiring at the Whitcomb School to keep class sizes from balloooning past district standards.
