How Expensive is the Search for a Superintendent?

How much is the consultant being used by the School District in the search for a permanent superintendent costing the tax payers?

On Oct. 23, the Marlborough School Committee voted to retain the services of Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates (HYA) to conduct the search for the district’s next superintendent.

The consultant's bid for the search was $22,500.

In the proposal to the committee, the company estimates additional consultant expenses would cost $2,500. The additional expenses relating to search advertisement and interview expenses. Travel expenses of the candidates and committee will be the committee's responsibility.

The question came up after the $2.6 million increase to the current year's school budget was discussed at the Finance Committee Meeting last week.
