"The thing I love most about track is the competitiveness," said McCabe, "When workouts get hard and I feel tired, I think about the races coming up and how each time I run, I have the chance to beat other really good athletes and personal records."

Stats: "The 4x100 [meter] relay team that I was a part of holds the school record at 51.35 seconds," McCabe explained, "My personal bests are 15'7" in long jump, 33'8" in triple jump, 13.0 seconds in the 100 meter [dash], 26.7 seconds in the 200 meter and 61.2 seconds in the 400 meter." McCabe is tied for the school record in the 100 meter dash.

What's next: "I have the league and district championships coming up later this season, and possibly a pentathlon on June 7," said McCabe. As for long term plans she has not narrowed down any specific colleges that she would like to attend and added, "The decision of which sports I will play in college will depend on which school I end up at. I also play soccer and participate in competitive gymnastics all year round, so I will have to make some decisions."

Highlight: McCabe said that a real high point for her was when she and her teammates broke the 4x100 meter school record at the state championships. "Also, whenever I break personal record, I consider that an accomplishment," McCabe explained.
