Weather Service Issues Thunderstorm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Marlborough Sunday afternoon.

The National Weather Service recently upgraded a special weather statement to a thunderstorm watch, advising residents of central Massachusetts, including Marlborough, that severe storms with strong wind and hail could possibly develop Sunday afternoon.

Currently the watch affects residents of Middlesex and Essex counties.

"A line of strong thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts to 50 miles per hour and up to nickel sized hail," said a NWS statement. "This line of storms will move across much of north-central Massachusetts and southwest New Hampshire through 4 p.m."
