Final Ward Park Senior Center Discussion Set

The Senior Center will be discussed by city councilors in two week.

The final discussion of a senior center in Ward Park by city councilors is set to take place in two weeks.

"Just like anything reported by committee, it lays out on the table for two weeks," said City Council President Patricia Pope of a discussion of a new senior center.

The senior center discussion began at the Operations and Oversight Committee Thursday of last week where Councilor and Chair of the Committee Jeseph Delano suggested investigating a new location might be appropriate for the senior center, while other councilors objected and Mayor Arthur Vigeant stated he would not put a call out for other spaces if the council requested him to.

In his summary of the meeting to the council, Delano stated the discussion had been tense but that everyone was working towards a senior center.

“We all want the senior center and we all want a good solution," said Delano.

The discussion will take place at City Hall on Oct. 21 at 8 p.m.
