Three $1,000 College Scholarships Available

City officials have announced three $1,000 college scholarships available to any city residents.

The city has announced three $1,000 scholarships through an optional program paid for by taxpayers.

Financial contributions from Marlborough's taxpayers through a special, voluntary check-off system on municipal tax bills will enable the city to offer three $1,000 scholarships to Marlborough residents this year.

The scholarships are open to any Marlborough resident provided they have been accepted to a college or university of their choice that is deemed accredited by the City Scholarship Committee.

The City Scholarship Committee will select the recipients and amounts of financial aid from the scholarship fund derived from the check-off program. The committee will take into consideration each recipient's financial need, scholastic record, involvement in community work, a personal essay and extracurricular school activities.

Information on applying for the scholarships, which are due by April 25, is available here.
