Shelter to Reopen as Marlborough Neighborhoods Continue to Light Up

The emergency shelter at the Whitcomb Middle School will reopen at 8 p.m. Monday.

With Marlborough neighborhoods getting electrical service restored across the city Monday, the office of says the emergency shelter at the will stay open for at least another night.

Throughout the day on Marlborough Patch's Facebook site, residents reported that their power was being restored left and right, but seemingly without any rhyme or reason.

The mayor's office agreed.

"Neighborhoods are coming back online and we do anticipate steady progress on that," said Krista Holmi, executive aide to Mayor Stevens. They do not know, however, in what order they will be restored as National Grid has not been specific, she continued.

The city's website is saying that the Whitcomb School shelter will remain open each night from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m., until the time comes when there is no one there by midnight. Until that point, the city will reassess the hours of the shelter based on the community need.

In other city government related news, this week's trash pick-up schedule will begin Tuesday and will continue on the Holiday schedule.
