Road Race To Benefit Police Dog

The September 5K will be the 10th annual running of the race.

A road race put on by Marlborough Police officers will be raising money for the newly established canine program in the city.
The 10th Annual Sgt. Kirby Memorial 5k Police Chase is organized by the Marlborough Police Patrol Officers Association. It will be held on Sept. 7 with signup currently happening online.
The race will benefit the newly established canine unit in the city. Police Chief Mark Leonard said that it was time for a city of Marlborough's size to have this program, calling it a "force multiplier."
The City Council  has already authorized an additional $15,000 in the 2014 Police Department budget for a new police dog.  A grant has provided an additional $25,000.
