Plummer Resigns as Marlborough's Fire Chief

Mayor Nancy Steven's office announced the fire chief's resignation Wednesday afternoon.

Chief Ricky Plummer, in conjunction with Mayor Nancy Stevens' office, announced his resignation from the Marlborough Fire Department Wednesday afternoon.

"It is with deep regret that Mayor Nancy Stevens has accepted the resignation of Marlborough Fire Chief Ricky Plummer," said a release.

Plummer had recently returned to work from an extended leave due to an illness.

"It has been an honor to serve the people of Marlborough and to work with the men and women of the Marlborough Fire Department," he said. "I am genuinely appreciative of the Mayor's support and caring concern during my recent health emergency. While my decision to leave has not been easy, it is time for me to focus on my health and spend more time with my wife and family."

Stevens said that Dep. Chief Frederick Flynn would return to the role of acting chief while the search for a permanent replacement took place.

"We are grateful for Chief Plummer's service to our city and wish him nothing but the best," said the mayor.
