Mayor Vigeant Poised to Run Unopposed

Vigeant could sail into a second term.

Going for his second term, no one has yet pulled papers to run against Mayor Arthur Vigeant.

If no one pulls papers by the August 16 deadline, this would be the first time since 1999 that a mayor has run unopposed, said Assistant City Clerk Steve Kerrigan. In that election, Mayor William Mauro had no opposition.

Even if someone pulls papers before the Aug. 16 deadline, they would still need to return the papers and signatures by Aug. 20 at 5 p.m.

The municipal election will be held on November 5.
