Marlborough Prepares for Weekend Snow

The Department of Public Works is ready to take on this weekend's snow.

The Department of Public Works is ready to tackle the impending weekend snowstorm, according to officials.

“We’re ready for the storm. We have our material all ordered," said Marlborough's General Foreman of Streets Kenneth Calder. "We are prepared for when it comes.”

The DPW has been hard at work on repairs and maintenance following the Blizzard of 2013, he said. The department is prepared with materials.

The latest storm information has it dropping 8 to 12 inches on Marlborough Saturday into Sunday. This puts additional cost on the department due to overtime, said Calder who recently calculated the city has spent $1.21 million in snow clearance.

“It’s falling on a weekend, which is not preferred," said Calder. “But we can’t pick and choose."
