Marlborough Polls on Track to Hit 20 Percent Turnout

Marlborough's voters are on track to hit or exceed a predicted 20 percent turnout for the U.S. Senate special election.

The warm weather couldn't keep people from the poles as voters came out to choose between Democratic Congressman Edward Markey of Malden and Republican businessman and former U.S. Navy SEAL Gabriel Gomez.

“I do feel confident we are going to hit 20 percent," said City Clerk Lisa Thomas.

The primary on April 30 saw 15.11 percent of registered voters cast their vote. There are 21,417 registered voters in the city, said Thomas, with 521 that requested absentee ballots.
