With a municipal election looming, one city councilor announced Monday that he is considering a run for State Representative in a year.
there have been numerous reports circulating about my candidacy for State
Representative in the 4th Middlesex District," said Ward 3 City Councilor Matt Elder. "I am seriously
considering running for State Representative next year."
Elder cited Danielle Gregoire's vote to override Governor Deval Patrick's veto on tax increases among his reasons for considering a run. He said that he will be asking residents about their thoughts on taxes in the state and consult with his family as a decision comes closer.
"I have received a
lot of positive feedback about a possible candidacy, and many people have
encouraged me to run," said Elder. "I will address what is best for my family, my business,
and the 4th Middlesex District and make a decision when the time is appropriate."
Elder said that he will continue to represent his elected ward. He has returned papers to run again for the seat.
