LETTER: Marlborough Police Union Endorses Vigeant for Mayor

As President of the Marlborough Police Patrol Officer’s Union I am proud to announce that we are endorsing Arthur Vigeant to be the next mayor of the great City of Marlborough. This decision was not made without careful consideration as we spoke to both candidates and looked at their qualifications.

As a public safety union many issues come to the forefront when we look at a candidate and decide to endorse him or her. First, and foremost, is strong leadership and the ability to get things done with a positive impact on the city. With his numerous years as a City Councilor and Council President, Arthur Vigeant has a proven track record of keeping this city moving in the right direction.

It’s no coincidence that Marlborough is in good financial health, relative to other municipalities, given the recent economic challenges facing everybody at the federal, state, and local level. As President of the City Council, Arthur Vigeant has demonstrated an ability to make sound decisions with an outlook towards the future. His vision of Marlborough, going forward, seems to be a template for success. Hopefully, he will serve as a magnet to lure more businesses into the city, easing the tax burden on its residents.

I live, work, and raise a family in Marlborough. Every aspect of it is important to me.  Being a police officer, I do put an emphasis on public safety as I can see what happens to municipalities that place it on the “back burner.” After speaking with Arthur Vigeant, we believe he is the best candidate to give us the resources we need to address the traffic issues that people have brought up. Furthermore, as Marlborough continues to grow, we need to make sure the small problems that arise do not grow into larger issues that become major concerns.

At this time we, NEPBA — Local 81, thank Arthur Vigeant for his past and current service to the City of Marlborough and give him our endorsement for mayor.
