Christmas Tree Collection Begins

Collections will begin the week of Jan. 6.

Editor's Note: the following is a press release from the city of Marlborough:

The City of Marlborough, Department of Public Works is pleased to announce that the city’s commercial hauler Republic Services will be providing curbside collection of Christmas trees beginning Monday, January 6th through Friday, January 17th.
 
Residents currently being served by the city’s curbside collection program (1-3 family units and condominiums) are eligible for Christmas tree collection services. All trees must be free from all decorations, and the trees must be placed curbside with NO PLASTIC BAGS OR WRAPS LEFT ON THE TREES. 

Christmas tree collection shall take place on your old and/or former rubbish collection day, residents are asked to check the city’s website if unsure of their former rubbish collection day at www.marlborough-ma.gov solid waste & recycling frequently asked questions; (then click) Yard Waste and Christmas Tree Collection Map; this will provide you with a map showing the Christmas tree collection day for your area. Please note this separate collection does not change or affect your automated solid waste and recyclables collection on Friday under the new program. Please continue to place your wheeled cart(s) curbside by 7 AM on Friday for collections during the 2-week Christmas tree collection period. 

Marlborough Residents who are not eligible for the curbside collection program, but would like to dispose of their Christmas tree may do so at Ghiloni Park along the back access road near Boston Post Road (Route 20 East). The disposal area will be marked with signs directing residents to the disposal area.
 
Please note the following requirements/restrictions listed below will apply and be strictly enforced: 

1. Marlborough residents (ONLY) 
2. Proof of residency to enter tree disposal area (license, registration, tax bill shall be required). 
3. No private contractors or commercial vehicles will be allowed to dump Christmas tree(s) at this location 

Please note our spring yard waste collection will beginning Tuesday, April 22, 2014 and continue through May 16, 2014 utilizing the above referenced map and schedule.
